Humor for the Highway

So, 2011 is tick-tocking down…here comes the 2012. Despite the forecast that the end of the world is nigh….just like in 1999…party time is essential! Whether that means dinner with friends, dance clubs with complete strangers, bubbly at home with your “circle of trust” peeps/family…I send you a virtual hug and a big thanks for being my virtual friends.

In the spirit of my determination to be a stylish humorist…I purport you forward into the unknown with a series of laugh injectors. Be Brave. Be You. Be Fantastic. …in all that you do, be stylish.

From Christmas to Hollywood

A CHRISTMAS STORY.

A movie about a little boy who wanted a Red Ryder BB gun and everyone is trying to talk him out of it. Funny enough, the most famous remembrance from this movie is a Leg Lamp the father “won” and insisted on putting it in the window to show everyone he was coming up in the world and had won a prize! This movie has become a “must see” Christmas tradition for many. A comedy. A retrospect for the good ole days. A drama (for little Ralphie). Peter Billingsly played the Ralphie character. Peter was a child star and by age 11 had acted in over 120 TV commercials (think “Messy Marvin” in the Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup commercials) but is most famous for his role as Ralphie (1983).

Where is Peter now? He is Vince Vaughn‘s best chum and partner in Vaughn’s production company Wild WEst Picture Show Productions. He has produced several films; The Break UpDinner for FiveCouples Retreat, Iron Man, etc.

Not bad Peter, from the Red Ryder BB gun to the Hollywood Camera.

But in remembrance of the iconic movie, the LEG LAMP would be my choice for those on your Christmas list who are difficult to buy for. Who could resist an icon?

“What I really love about this is that when I put it right in the front window of our home, everybody can see my prize and know that I’ve won a major award. Yup, the Old Man is coming up in this world!”

HOLIDAY GOLD

IF I had a wonderful party to go to, this ensemble would be my choice. I suppose these virtual outfits that I make up are my fashion therapy. It doesn’t hurt to dream now does it? Michael Kors has really improved his line lately and his company has made marginal gains in the last 2 years. Perhaps his involvement with Project Runway is inspiring him or perhaps he has finally found some wonderful design talent for his work room. In any case, this one shoulder dress paired with these fantastic shoes are a knockout! But the fire really starts when the dress and shoes are accented with warm and sleek gold accessories. Arriving at your party in this ensemble will definitely take home the HOLIDAY GOLD!

Happy Holiday Partying

Menace in Mohawk

Today in HISTORY…THE BOSTON TEA PARTY of 1773. Colonists in Massachusetts exercised their fashion sense by dressing up as Mohawk Indians. They then boarded 3 Tea Ships (Darmouth, Eleanor, and Beaver) as they were docking in the Boston Harbor and dumped $18k worth of British Tea into the waters of Boston.

This was to defy the bullying of British Parliament and their Tea Act of 1773 which gave them a monopoly on American tea trade. The Continental Congress was formed after the British response to the Tea Party became more than the colonists could take. Thus began the American Revolution.

But why did they dress up like Mohawk Indians? Yes, they wanted to disguise their true identity and who better to point the finger to than indians. The indians were already “the enemy” but also the Mohawk image was emerging as a revolutionary symbol of liberty. To this day, the MOHAWK is a symbol of rebellion, courage, and admonition for unfair rules.

Mohawk Indians inspire todays fashion:

Gay Man STYLE

Why is it in this country (USA) that many mistake a sharp dressed man for being GAY? Most gay men are fashionable dressers and they look so debonair! Straight men need to man up and quit being concerned with the judgement from others. So what if they say you look gay? Gay is OK. Unstylish and boring NOT OK. There is nothing more refreshing (and a turn on) than seeing a man dressed stylishly. It is SEXY! Women LOVE it.

MEN…be your own MAN, break away from the khakis, the pinstriped pants with boring white button down dress shirts. Peel off the polo shirts and deck the docksiders. You CAN be fashionable and you CAN also tell those that judge you to  *#+&  off while you walk off arm in arm with the HOTTEST CHICK in the joint!

Today I have made you guys a little STYLE SHEET from a favorite brand: BIKKEMBERGS
