Haider Ackermann, The Draping Genius. I have posted my admiration of his work before, but I must repeat my praise after seeing the Spring Summer 2012 collection. UNBELIEVABLE how he manipulates silks, jerseys, even leather into a buttery waterfall!!!! He uses color like a master artist of an era long ago, combines angles like a trusted architect. Oh my, Haider!

The sultry tones of Haider Ackermann’s Spring / Summer 2012 collection had the audience of Paris salivating for more.
The Columbian born designer, whom Karl Lagerfeld has said he wants him to be his successor at Chanel, got his big break interning with John Galliano. He then went onto win the esteemed Swiss Textiles Award, and launched his first, and last menswear line in 2010. It is these experiences, which have given him the great skill of tailoring and draping jersey, suede and leather.
Beautiful tapered trousers, silk jumpsuits, and an abundance of silver lame; his ambiguously gendered approach to a sexual collection is a fine example of his design repertoire.
Mixing his palette with bilberry, reds, gold’s and distressed silvers; Ackermann has proved his hype with this glamorous collection. The theme of sultry beauty and edgy tailoring, complimented the Parisian setting.
Masculine tailoring and feminine, sheer fabrics dominated the show and the clean lines were typical of Ackermann’s earlier designs.
