I admit that I have watched all 9 seasons of Project Runway. At times, I’m a little bit jealous that such a show was not around when I was a young fashionista and aspiring fashion designer but mostly I am so happy for these young creatives and their opportunity to present their voice in fashion.

For Anya, the latest winner on Project Runway, I am presenting a little collection of how the tribal costumes of South Africa have influenced fashion. She is not South African and her style was labeled as “Caribbean” but I also felt a note of tribal influence in how she personally dressed and how she designed. If she embraces that combination and designs a collection true to her personal style I think she will be quite successful. I believe it would be a refreshing interpretation… a vibe from the Island Tribe. Enjoy the pics.

(Anya is actually from Trinidad which is the southernmost island in the Caribbean and only a short distance from Venezuela. I’m happy that many people now know about her island through her fame on PR for it is a beautiful place.)
