Waiter! I’ll Have Another!!!

For an unlikely Derby winner who sold at auction as a yearling for $11k and later as a two-year old for $35k …I’d say I’LL HAVE ANOTHER has earned his keep.  The 3 year old chestnut colt is out of Flower Alley and Arch’s Girl Edith and pre Derb had 6 starts / 4 wins / and $2m earnings. Not bad, but not a spotlight contender. I’d say his win Saturday made some believers a nice padding in their wallet. I’LL HAVE ANOTHER is on his was to Maryland with sights of going all the way to a  TRIPLE CROWN win…. I’m not much of a gambler, but I’d have a seat at the table and certainly when asked …my reply would be “I’LL HAVE ANOTHER”.

History of the famous “CHURCHILL DOWNS” dates back to the 1800′s when 26 year old Col. M. Lewis Clark leased 80 acres of land from his uncles (John and Henry Churchill) with the dream of showcasing the Kentucky breeding industry. The initial construction began with only $32k. The track formally opened on May 17, 1875 with four races. The first winner at Churchill Downs was a horse named “Bonaventure”. The first national telecast of the Kentucky Derby was aired May 3rd of 1952.
